4-Hour Work Zone Flagger Training
Work Zone Flagger Certification
The Work Zone Flagger Training course is required for anyone who wants to work as a Certified Flagger in New York State. Flaggers are required in Work Zone Traffic Control areas to protect the workers, motorists and general public from hazards occurring due to lane closure, diversions, or work adjacent to traffic that may distract drivers and cause accidents. This course will provide a detailed overview of New York State flagging procedures and regulations.
The New York State DOT Standard Specifications (619.3L.1) states that all flaggers shall be adequately trained in flagging operations by recognized training programs, including the American Traffic Safety Services Association, the National Safety Council, unions, or construction industry associations, or by an individual who holds a current certification as a flagger training instructor from such a program. Prior to the start of flagging operations, the Contractor shall provide to the Engineer a list of certified flaggers to be used in the operation, identifying the source of flagger training for each individual. When requested by the Engineer, flaggers shall demonstrate their competency in flagging procedures. Flaggers not competent in flagging procedures shall be retrained or replaced at once. PDH STAR training complies with these requirements.

Is PDH STAR Flagger Training Acceptable in Other States?
