Sustainable Concrete Pavements
This PDH online course is a part of the Civil course category. This course provides guidance on pavement sustainability concepts and on recommended practices for maximizing the sustainability of concrete pavements. The course covers technical information and best practices related to concrete pavement design, materials, construction, use/operations, renewal, and recycling. In addition, issues specific to pavement sustainability in the urban environment and to the evaluation of pavement sustainability are discussed.
Concrete pavements suffer from a perception that they contribute a considerable amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere due to the use of portland cement that binds the aggregates together. Stakeholders in the pavement industry are being challenged to adopt practices that maintain economic vitality while balancing environmental and societal needs.
This course is intended for use by civil engineers, structural engineers, materials scientists/engineers, project managers, construction professionals and others interested in learning about sustainable concrete pavements.
