W-CE-009 Basement Waterproofing: 1.5 PDH
Start and End Time of the Webinar (all times EST)
4 December 2019 @ 1:00pm-2:30pm
Description of the Basement Waterproofing webinar
Basement Waterproofing online PDH webinar is a part of our group of interactive / live webinars. Water can seep through cracks and joints of most materials, including concrete, stone and brick. It is well documented that basements and other substructures can leak. Evidence suggests that half of all basements leak at some point during their construction and that a lesser, but still significant, proportion leak post-construction.
This webinar is based on CIRIA guidelines and British Standards that classify basements into four types depending on the use / program. Furthermore, three different waterproofing strategies are discussed that would help achieve the desired water-tightness. Topics to be discussed with the clients are addressed, a key aspect of determining the desired water and vapour protection.
This webinar will cover the following topics as related to basement waterproofing:
- Why waterproofing is necessary
- Defining level of water resistance
- Methods of achieving water resistance
- Defining the internal environment
- Specifying waterproofing requirements
- What can go wrong
- How to manage risks
- Design issues
- Construction issues
- Remedial works
- Communication issues
- Case studies and key points to discuss with clients
This webinar is intended for use by civil, structural, and environmental engineers, architects, sustainability design and construction professionals and others interested in learning about cold weather concreting.
At the end of this webinar, you will be able to:
- Advise clients to understand what is practicably achievable in terms of waterproofing
- Explain different types and levels of underground waterproofing protection
- Define the internal environment required and apply appropriate waterproofing solution
- Specify waterproofing requirements
- Understand and manage risks associated with underground waterproofing
