W-EE-006 Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection: 1 PDH

Description of the Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection webinar
The Sacrificial Anode Cathodic Protection online PDH webinar is a part of our group of on-demand online webinars. This webinar will provide you with an introduction to the methods, equipment and practices for design and operation of sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems.
The basic principle of cathodic protection using sacrificial anodes is the electrochemical cell. As in the case of impressed current cathodic protection, high energy (potential) electrons are forced to flow from the anode to the structure to be protected. The structure-to-electrolyte potentials required for protection are identical to those for impressed current cathodic protection systems. The high potential electrons are generated through the corrosion of an active metal such as magnesium or zinc.
This webinar is intended for civil engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and other design and construction professionals wanting an introduction to the principles of sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the webinar, you will be able to:
- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of sacrificial anode systems;
- Understand the soil conditions where sacrificial anodes are most effective;
- Explain which metals are applicable for anode material;
- Compare sacrificial anode systems to impressed current systems;
- Describe where magnesium anodes are most effectively employed;
- List relatively recent uses for aluminum anodes; and
- Discuss operational and maintenance considerations for sacrificial anode systems.
Refunds and Cancellation Policies
The webinar is accepted by the Professional Engineering boards in states listed on this page. In an unlikely case the webinar is not accepted by the board listed on this page, we will refund the full payment and will pay for you to take another course or webinar of equivalent monetary and PDH / CEU value.
