The OSHA New York compliant Outreach Training Program purpose is to promote workplace safety and health and make workers more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights. The OSHA New York compliant Outreach Training Program provides training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards. Outreach classes also provide overview information regarding OSHA, including workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. The actively proctored online training complies with the Local Law 196 and, together with additional SST Training, can be sued to obtain a Worker or Supervisor SST card.

Which training should I take?

The 10-hour training program is primarily intended for entry level workers. The 30-hour training program is intended to provide workers with some safety responsibility a greater depth and variety of training. All outreach training is intended to cover an overview of the hazards a worker may encounter on a job site. Training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards.

What is covered in the OSHA 10- and 30-hour outreach courses?

The 10-hour outreach courses provide basic awareness training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards. The course also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and filing a complaint.

The 30-hour outreach courses provide a greater depth and variety of training on an expanded list of topics associated with workplace hazards in each industry. OSHA provides authorized trainers procedures for each industry program on the topic outlines for each industry.

Is PDH STAR OSHA training acceptable in New York?

PDH STAR OSHA Outreach Training Courses are delivered to you in collaboration with PureSafety (UL), an approved OSHA Authorized Outreach Online Training Provider. All of our New York OSHA courses are actively proctored to satisfy New York rules and regulations, and is compliant with Local Law 196 . Our OSHA 30 and OSHA 10 Construction online training are accepted by the New York City Department of Buildings for the purpose of issuing Site Safety Training SST Cards. You must have access to telephone to be able to complete the actively proctored courses.

Does OSHA require the 10- and 30-hour outreach courses?

Although not mandatory, OSHA recommends outreach courses as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers. However, some states (for example New York and Nevada) have enacted laws mandating the training for certain types of projects. Also, some employers, unions, organizations or other jurisdictions may also require this training.

Is there an age requirement to take the OSHA course?

No. There is no minimum age requirement to participate in Outreach Training Program classes.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

You will receive your Certificate of Completion immediately upon completing the course. Your certificate will be available for download in your learning account on our web site.

How do I get a replacement card?

To obtain a replacement 10- or 30-hour student completion card, students must contact their trainer. The trainer will contact the authorizing OSHA training organization. Replacement cards may only be issued for training which took place within the last 5 years.

When will I receive my student course completion card?

Outreach Training Program trainers are required to issue student course completion cards directly to the student within 90 days of class completion. If you completed an Outreach Training Program 10- or 30-hour class and did not receive your completion card within 90 days, contact your Outreach trainer.

Does OSHA card have an expiration date?

Although there is no expiry date for an OSHA card, some states and local jurisdiction, as well as some employers may require you to retake the training every 3 to 5 years. In New York City, for the purpose of obtaining a Site Safety Training (SST) card, the OSHA card must be less than 5 years old.

How do I get an OSHA card?

OSHA-authorized trainers issue student course completion cards to individuals that successfully complete an OSHA Outreach Training Program class. The Outreach Training Program offers 10-hour or 30-hour classes for Construction, General industry, Maritime, and a 15-hour class for Disaster Site Worker. In order to obtain an OSHA card, an individual must attend and successfully complete the entire class, including all requisite topics and the minimum number of contact hours. Please note that an OSHA card is not considered a certification or license.

Can I take OSHA Outreach training outside of the United States?

No. You must complete OSHA Outreach training in the United States, and you will need a U.S. mailing address to receive an official OSHA card. You can complete Outreach training from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and certain U.S. territories and commonwealths within OSHA’s geographic jurisdiction.

Locations outside the United States where you can take OSHA Outreach training include:

  • Puerto Rico
  • The U.S. Virgin Islands
  • American Samoa
  • Guam
  • The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands
  • Wake Island
  • Outer Continental Shelf Islands
  • Johnston Island

If you live outside OSHA jurisdiction and register for Outreach training you will be prompted to enroll into an equivalent international safety training course. These courses cover the same workplace safety topics as Outreach training, but they do not provide an official OSHA card upon completion. In Its place you will receive a printable certificate of completion.
