How PE Continuing Education Requirements Vary by State
Professional Engineer continuing education requirements are established by individual state licensing boards. Required PDH hours, renewal periods, ethics requirements, acceptable subjects and permitted course formats can differ from one jurisdiction to another.
PDH Hours & Renewal Periods
States may require a specific number of Professional Development Hours during annual, biennial or triennial license renewal periods. Some jurisdictions currently have no mandatory continuing education requirement.
Ethics, Laws & Rules
Some engineering boards require a portion of continuing education to address professional ethics, state laws, board rules or other subjects specifically required for PE license renewal.
