Renew Your NYC SST Card Online

We recommend renewing during the 12 months before your SST card expires, ideally at least 2–4 weeks before expiration.

Refresher training must be completed within 12 months before the card is renewed. Eligible cards that expire on or after May 3, 2026 can also be renewed within the one-year grace period after expiration.

Yes, if your SST card expired on or after May 3, 2026, you generally have up to one year after expiration to complete the required refresher training and renew the card.

However, an expired SST card cannot be used to work on an SST-required jobsite during the grace period.

Cards that expired before May 3, 2026, or are beyond the applicable grace period, require a new SST card application.

Generally, no. Standard SST Worker and Supervisor card renewals use the applicable 8-hour or 16-hour refresher training packages rather than requiring you to repeat OSHA 30.

Separate requirements may apply if you need a new SST card instead of a renewal, or if your original OSHA credential is invalid.

NYC DOB SST cards are valid for five years from the date of issuance.

The new card's expiration date is based on its new issuance date. Remaining time on your previous card does not carry forward.

If you hold an SST Worker card, choose an 8-Hour Worker Renewal package for $150.

If you hold an SST Supervisor card, choose a 16-Hour Supervisor Renewal package for $290.

Each package option provides a different NYC DOB-approved combination of refresher courses. You only need one complete applicable package.

Upgrading from Worker to Supervisor?

If you hold a 40-Hour Worker SST card and want to obtain a Supervisor SST card, do not purchase the 16-Hour Supervisor Renewal package. That package is only for renewing an existing Supervisor SST card.

The package you need depends on when you completed your original 10-Hour SST training:

• Original 10-Hour SST training less than 5 years old: Complete the 22-Hour SST Supervisor Upgrade Package .
• Original 10-Hour SST training more than 5 years old: Complete the 32-Hour SST Supervisor Package .

Important: Renewing your Worker SST card does not reset the five-year validity period of your original 10-Hour SST training for Supervisor upgrade purposes.

Yes. PDH STAR offers both 8-Hour Worker renewal options in Spanish, as well as 16-Hour Supervisor renewal Option 1 in Spanish.

Spanish-language enrollment links are provided alongside the relevant packages above. Pricing is the same as for English: $150 for Worker and $290 for Supervisor renewal.

PDH STAR requires the following documents for SST card processing:

• Completed application form
• Applicant photograph
• Government-issued photo ID
• Proof of address if your ID was issued outside New York State
• OSHA card, front and back
• Copy of your existing SST card, unless PDH STAR issued it

All required documents must be clear and approved before card issuance and mailing.

Your physical SST card is included in the training package price.

PDH STAR mails the card within 24 hours after completion of all required training and approval of your documentation.

Mailing is not the same as delivery. Actual delivery time depends on the postal or shipping service. Card pickup is not available.

NYC DOB has invalidated SST certificates issued by Redcode Inc. Affected workers must complete the necessary replacement training by December 7, 2026.

Workers holding SST cards issued directly by Redcode must obtain a replacement SST card from a DOB-registered course provider by that deadline.

DOB is also no longer accepting OSHA cards from SM Lutfur Rahman, Redcode's owner, for meeting SST requirements. Affected workers may need to complete replacement OSHA training through a current OSHA training provider.

This is not necessarily a standard 8-hour or 16-hour SST renewal. The training needed depends on which credentials were affected.

The NYC DOB update effective August 1, 2026 introduced the 2-Hour Mental Health Awareness course into selected SST renewal combinations.

This applies to Worker Option 2 and Supervisor Options 1 and 3.

Other renewal combinations, including Worker Option 1 and Supervisor Option 2, remain available without a separate Mental Health Awareness component in those particular packages.
