What is a Worker Wallet Card?
Starting November 1, 2024, a new Worker Wallet Cards will be available through the NYC DOB Training Connect platform, leveraging the same technology used to issue Site Safety Training (SST) cards. Worker Wallet Cards are required to be used by construction workers and accepted by employers as proof of their certifications to work on certain construction jobs or equipment, i.e., scaffolds. The new card eliminates the need to carry multiple cards, allowing the card holder to house proof of all their certification information in one card. Like the SST Card, when scanned using the Training Connect App, the Worker Wallet Card reveals the cardholder’s certifications.
What is the Worker Wallet Card?
Worker Wallet Card is a physical wallet sized card that will have all your non-SST training in one place. If you have any of the following training and qualifications, you need a wallet size card:
- Mast Climber User/Operator and Refresher
- Climber/Tower Crane Rigger
- Rigging Supervisor
- Rigging Worker
- Supported Scaffold User
- Supported Scaffold Installer & Remover
- Suspended Scaffold User
- Suspended Scaffold Supervisor
- Periodic Gas Piping Inspector
How to get the Worker Wallet Card?
To obtain the card you must complete the training first and send us the following information via email to info@pdhstar.com:
- Complete the training that will be added to the Worker Wallet Card. Even if you have completed your training with another provider PDH STAR can issue your card
- For training completed with another course provider, please send us your certificate(s) of completion
- Fill in the application form
- Provide a copy of your ID. If you have a non-NY State ID, you must provide a proof of address dated in the last 60 days (utility bill, bank statement etc.)
- Provide a frontal photo of your head and shoulders against a plain, light colored background, e.g. a selfie against a plain wall
- Order your card in this link
The card would take 3-5 business days to process. In case you have taken the training with another course provider processing time may be longer as we need to verify the training.

Do I need the Worker Wallet Card if I already have an SST card?
Yes. The Worker Wallet Card does not replace the SST card. The new card complements the SST card as it contains all of your additional certifications and training, such as the NYC DOB Scaffold Card
Does Worker Wallet Card expire?
No. The card does not expire, but the training will expire on the expiration date.
I have a new training / license - do I need a new card?
No. If you have a new training or license in one of the categories listed above, they can just be added remotely to your Worker Wallet Card.
Is there a deadline by which I need to get the new Worker Wallet Card?
Yes. The Worker Wallet Card has been mandatory since July 1, 2025. All training listed above must be issued on the Worker Wallet Card, and individual course or training cards are no longer accepted.
Is there a digital version of the new card?
No. You must present the physical card to your employer and any NYC DOB representative that requests the card on site. We can send you a digital copy of your card for your records, but it is generally not accepted by employers and the DOB.
How much does it cost to get the new Worker Wallet Card?
If you have completed the training with PDH STAR, the card is issued for free. If you have completed your training with another provider the cost of processing and issuing the card is $75. You can order your card in this link.
