Description of the Historic Building Materials webinar
The Historic Building Materials online PDH webinar is a part of our group of interactive / live webinars. This webinar is an introduction to Historic Building Materials used in buildings in the United States.
This webinar provides a historical overview of the building materials in use within historic buildings in the United States and provides guidance on how to determine the level of treatment for historic buildings. The webinar covers most of the materials encountered in historic buildings such as wood, stone, metal, masonry as well as building systems such as curtain wall, mechanical, electrical, roofs, windows, storefronts and others. We will also discuss special requirements for treatment of historic buildings related to meeting accessibility and life-safety provisions of modern-day building codes.
This webinar is intended for architects, all engineers, other construction professionals and construction managers interested in learning about historic materials in use in the United States.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the webinar, you will be able to:
- Discuss the use of materials in Preservation, Rehabilitation, Restoration, and Reconstruction of historic buildings in the United States
- Determine the level of treatment and discussed main materials used in the process
- Explain historical context of main materials used in historic building
